Graphene and Human Brain Project Win Largest Research Excellence Award in History

The European Commission today announced the winners of a multi-billion euro competition of Future and Emerging Technologies (FET). The winning Graphene and Human Brain initiatives are set to receive one billion euros each, to deliver 10 years of world-beating science at the crossroads of science and technology. Each initiative involves researchers from at least 15 EU Member States and nearly 200 research institutes.

Proceedings of the 5th International Advanced Research Workshop on In Silico Oncology and Cancer Investigation

Cancer is a natural phenomenon and as such it should be amenable to mathematical and computational description. Clinically driven complex multiscale cancer models can produce rather realistic spatio-temporal simulations of concrete clinical interventions such as radio-chemotherapy applied to individual patients. Clinical data processing procedures and computer technologies play an important role in this context. Following clinical adaptation and validation within the framework of clinico-genomic trials, models are expected to enhance individualized treatment optimization.

Agfa HealthCare Signs Major PACS/RIS/NIS Agreement with Meander Medical Center in the Netherlands

Agfa HealthCare has signed an agreement with Meander Medical Center in Amersfoort, the Netherlands, to upgrade the hospital's existing IMPAX Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and to implement both Agfa HealthCare's Radiology Information System (RIS) and Nuclear Information System (NIS), with speech recognition.
