Netherlands-based DiaSana Empowers Patients with Carestream MyVue

CarestreamDiaSana, a private diagnostic centre in the Netherlands, specialising in MRI and CT scans and X-rays, has ordered a CARESTREAM MyVue system. The system, part of Carestream's integrated Clinical Collaboration Platform, consists of Carestream MyVue and Carestream Vue Motion, a zero footprint viewer that can easily access a Vendor Neutral Archive or PACS using only a web browser or EMR portal.

DiaSana, based in Mill, a village in North Brabant, a province in the south of the Netherlands, performs MRI exams for over 60% of Dutch hospitals. They focus on providing co-operation between healthcare providers in the Netherlands, such as hospitals, specialists, radiologists, private clinics, GPs, company doctors and sports physicians. DiaSana are unique in using an open MRI, a scanning system with open sides; there is no tunnel, giving the patient more space and making it more suitable for larger patients and those with claustrophobia. DiaSana also offer a short waiting time, with patients often being investigated within one week. The centre recently added a CT scanner to provide additional imaging services to its clients.

Bob Visser, Carestream Country Manager for the Netherlands, said: "Previously, once images had been read, the Clinic would save the images and reports to CD or DVD to be returned to the requesting hospital. Now, the Carestream MyVue workflow will increase the quality of DiaSana’s service to their customers - both clinicians and patients. There will also be improved patient satisfaction by providing a better patient service, and potential reduction in duplication of exams as images and reports are available when required."

Patient images, information and reports will be accessed through a secure log-in from a variety of web-browser enabled devices and, once registered, patients can view their study or portfolio and manage who they want to share with (physician or non-physician).

Monique Peters, Diagnostic Manager for DiaSana said: ""We expect the MyVue system to improve both quality and efficiency; it will reduce the workload for our employees as they will not need to burn CDs or DVDs anymore, which will also reduce our operational costs. It will also improve security by reducing the possible loss or misuse of patient data. We will also be empowering our patients as they will have direct access to their medical data and be able to share it with their GP or other physicians."
