EHI Awards Finalists Unveiled

EHealth InsiderThe finalists have been announced for the EHI Awards 2012 in association with BT. The 53 finalists in 11 categories showcase some of the best work being done in healthcare IT in the UK, having impressed a judging panel headed by outgoing head of NHS Informatics Katie Davies at a judging day in Reading last month.

The winners, along with the overall winner and the Healthcare IT Champion of the Year, which is decided by readers of EHealth Insider, will be unveiled at a black-tie dinner in central London on 4 October.

Linda Davidson, co-founder and director of EHI, said: "All the finalists deserve congratulations for getting this far.

"There were a record number of entries for this year's awards, and the greatest number of shortlisted candidates were asked to come and present to our expert panel of judges.

"They were incredibly impressed by the quality of the entries; but they were prepared to ask some tough questions about the projects being presented. There is no doubt that the finalists are doing some of the best work in healthcare IT in the UK today."

The categories for this year’s awards included two new categories- 'outstanding work in healthcare imaging informatics' and 'the CCIO award for clinical IT leadership', which is supported by the CCIO Leaders Network.

A full list of the categories and the finalists and a short introduction to their entries can be found on in the 'categories' section of the EHI Awards website.

A number of the finalists are being invited to give presentations at this year's EHI Live 2012 conference and exhibition, which will take place at the NEC in Birmingham on 6-7 November.

Davidson said: "We want as many people as possible to be able to hear from the winners of the awards, and the EHI Awards showcase, which is part of the free exhibition at EHI Live, is a great opportunity to do that."

The winners of all the categories of this year's awards will be announced at the event, which will take place in the sumptuous surroundings of the Grand Connaught Rooms. To find out how to book tables and tickets, visit the EHI 2012 Awards website, http://www.ehealthawards.com.
