The University of Edinburgh's Centre for Public Health and Primary Care Research will hold a Seminar on eHealth Research on June 2nd, 2008 at the Queen's Medical Research Institute, Little France, Edinburgh. This eHealth Seminar will highlight the interdisciplinary and translational nature of current eHealth projects at the Centre for Public Health and Primary Care Research and the School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh and highlight the future potential of eHealth in delivering improved healthcare outcomes.

The special ePractice.eu Mid-Term workshop held on Monday 19 in Brussels was a great success. A total of 82 members of the online community participated in the event, which counted with the presence of several high-level experts who delivered key note speeches and EC officials responsible of the eGovernment, eInclusion and eHealth policies, amongst them the Heads of Unit David Broster, Gérard Comyn and Karel De Vriendt.

TeleHealth describes the delivery of health-related services over a distance using information and communications technologies. It is expected that such services will help European health systems to better cope with, e.g., growing demands arising from an ageing population, increasing consumerism, or limited supply of funding.

The 21th IEEE International Symposium on Computer-Based Medical Systems (CBMS 2008) will be held on June 17-19, 2008 at University of Jyväskylä, Finland. CBMS 2008 is held in cooperation with the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Special Interest Group on Applied Computing (SIGAPP), and is sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society (Technical Committee on Computational Medicine, TCCM) and the Department of Computer Science and Information Systems, University of Jyväskylä.

The potential offered by eHealth, and the evidence of its success, has long been clearly identified. Since 2003, with the creation of a series of eHealth conferences - of which this is the sixth - various Ministerial and high-level groups, together with the European Commission, have agreed to making Declarations and conference conclusions with a focus on eHealth.
