IT professionals working in the health and social care field are being called upon to submit papers and participate in the British Computer Society's (BCS) Healthcare Computing Conference 2008: Invitation to the Future. The three day conference will take place at the Harrogate Conference Centre 21-23 April 2008. The call is for papers, posters, tutorials, panel sessions, and association and group sessions.

Mark Leavitt, M.D., Ph.D., chair of the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology, provided an overview of U.S. activity in accelerating health IT adoption through certification today at The World of Health IT (WHIT) Conference and Exhibition. Co-presenter of this session was Dr. Georges De Moor, M.D., Ph.D., head of the Department of Medical Informatics and Statistics at the University of Ghent and Belgium President of the European Institute for Health Records (EuroRec).

Some 2000 members of the healthcare delivery community from 64 countries gathered in Vienna 22-25 October 2007 for the second edition of The World of Health IT Conference & Exhibition. The main organisers of this event include the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), the European Commission (EC) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

At this year's World of Health IT Conference & Exhibition (WoHIT) held in Vienna, Austria, the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) of Europe, the Middle East and Africa will celebrate the one-year anniversary of its EMEA office in Brussels.

Slovenia
The conference will focus mostly on the topics which contribute to connecting eHealth tools and users. The exhibition will show eHealth solutions of EU Member States, Slovenian and other EU countries eHealth industry.

A workshop on the third Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) call under the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) will be held on 17 and 18 December in Luxembourg.

The World of Health IT 2007 Conference & Exhibition started with the First Joint EuroRec-EHTEL Workshop (one of the prominent WHIT '07 Pre-Conferences).
