iSOFT Enters Italian Market

iSOFTAustralia's largest listed health information technology company today announced that iSOFT entered the Italian market, boosting cross selling opportunities as it expands its global footprint to 38 countries.

iSOFT won a $1.1 million (€600,000) contract to install its hospital information system in four hospitals operated by Consorzio Regionale Servizi Sociali (CRESS), a private healthcare group based in Italy's Liguria region. The project is funded by Liguria’s regional government.

The hospitals include two 60-bed hospitals at Savona, an 88-bed hospital at Andora, and another in Cegio with 40 beds. iSOFT is discussing a proposal to roll out the solution at all of CRESS's 50 hospitals and health centres once this initial project is completed.

iSOFT's x-HIS solution will include functions such as admissions, nursing stations and physiotherapy. In a second phase, due to start next year, iSOFT will add other x-HIS modules such as clinical notes, clinical requests, and electronic medical histories, in a deal potentially worth a further €400,000.

Andrea Fiumicelli, IBA's Chief Operating Officer, said: "Italy presents us with an opportunity to introduce our hospital solution into an important new market, and clearly demonstrates iSOFT's growing influence as one of the biggest players in the global health IT market."
