System C's Medway Proxima PAS Goes Live in Bath

System C Healthcare plcSystem C's Medway Proxima PAS has gone live at the new Circle Health hospital in Bath. CircleBath opened its doors in March this year with the aim of significantly improving clinical outcomes, patient experience and value in healthcare by bringing together the best in service, architectural design and clinical practice. The hospital offers care covering 28 specialities to a mix of private and NHS patients, delivered from acclaimed new facilities designed by Foster + Partners.

CircleBath is using the Medway Proxima system to manage the full patient pathway from patient registration, through the referral and booking processes, to session management and discharge.

The software has been specifically adapted to deal with the mix of private and NHS patients. It is Choose and Book compliant, allowing GPs to book their patients directly in to the hospital for treatment. It also allows activities to be recorded according to how they are being funded - including self-funding by private patients, health insurance and the NHS.

Circle is Europe's largest partnership of healthcare professionals with 6 facilities across the UK and plans for another 20.

Phil Sinclair, PAS Project Manager at CircleBath, said the System C implementation team had been both flexible and helpful, successfully delivering a reliable and fully functional PAS.

"Their experienced team was responsive and adapted to the changes we needed to make as the project progressed, particularly in the area of interoperability and functionality designed to support the management of privately funded patients," he said.

Mr Sinclair added: "Local users at CircleBath, including a number of medical secretaries who have not previously used a PAS system, find Medway Proxima a user friendly and intuitive application. The use of structured pathways allows us to provide accurate reporting internally and externally."

Circle Health has highlighted three key features of the new hospital in Bath: its ground-breaking design by the world-leading architects Foster + Partners; the fact that it is owned by its clinical and other staff; and its pledge to do away with unnecessary red tape by 'making CircleBath one of the most technologically advanced hospitals in the UK'.

Dr Ian Denley, chief executive of System C, commented: "The PAS is a critical tool in the safe, efficient and effective delivery of healthcare to patients.

"Putting one in is a big responsibility for an IT supplier, and we are delighted to have another smooth and successful Medway deployment under our belts."

He added: "It was a pleasure to work with such a forward-thinking, energetic company and alongside staff with such a positive, can-do attitude."
