Tieto Wins the Administration of Apoteket AB's New Business System

TietoSecure, stable business administration and prescription management will be the result when Swedish pharmacy Group Apoteket AB orders a new business system from IT services company Tieto. The system will give Apoteket AB more efficient business management, giving the company's customers enhanced availability and a high level of security when they shop. The order value is SEK 180 million (approx. EUR 19.5 million). This is a new five-year agreement, with an option for additional two years.

Tieto has been Apoteket AB's main supplier for administration of its business system and IT operations since 2006. Apoteket is now introducing a brand new centralised platform based on Oracle Retail, Oracle EBS (business administration system) and Oracle AIA (integration platform). Tieto is responsible for the administration and development of the system, which will be used by all of the company's over 350 pharmacies throughout the country.

The new platform is based on a more standardised system than before, which makes it easier to integrate information and guarantees IT stability. Tieto's new data centre south of Stockholm is responsible for the operations-related services. Tieto's global delivery model is used for administration and development, which brings cost efficiency and flexibility.

"I see the fact that Apoteket AB is showing us renewed confidence as acknowledgement that we have succeeded to date in delivering very high quality for a long period of time. We must make sure that we respond well to this great confidence. In this connection, we can now also offer services in Oracle Retail, which will provide new business opportunities," says Eva Gidlöf, Executive Vice President, Tieto Scandinavia.
